In the raw wilderness of the Canadian north, fresh‑out of school and eager for excitement, Dick Kent and his friend Sandy McClaren find themselves at the remote Fort du Lac. A wounded Indian runner bursts into the trading post, gasping that the notorious outlaw Bear Henderson has seized Sandy’s uncle and threatens the surrounding villages. The trader Martin MacLean, wary of hidden allies of the bandit, implores the two young men to fetch Malcolm Mackenzie and bring the mounted police to confront the danger.
With rifles cleaned, a canoe stocked, and a hand‑drawn map marking secret caches, Dick and Sandy set out down the river toward Mackenzie’s Landing, aware that every bend could hide enemies or allies. Their restless energy mixes with a growing sense of responsibility as they race against time to rescue Uncle Walter and protect the fragile frontier. The journey promises rugged terrain, tense encounters, and the kind of frontier bravery that defines early Canadian adventure.
