Description

In a barren, sun‑scorched valley where wind whips over endless silt drifts, an exhausted traveler forces his way toward a lone cabin perched beside a shimmering lake. The landscape feels hostile, its silence broken only by the occasional bird soaring over the desolate plain. From the moment he steps inside, the tension of a creeping menace lurking beyond the horizon is palpable.

Inside, the old prospector Harbinson greets his weary guest with a mix of relief and urgency, while the half‑breed Baptiste moves about preparing a meager meal. Their conversation quickly turns to the alarming spread of a mysterious sickness among the northern tribes, the closure of the nearest post, and dwindling supplies that threaten to turn their isolated outpost into a death trap. The sense of impending danger is heightened by the knowledge that help may never arrive in time.

Amid this bleak backdrop, the promise of a faithful Malemute pulling the mail across unforgiving terrain offers a thin thread of hope. Listeners will ride alongside the characters as they grapple with desperation, resilience, and the stark beauty of the wilderness, all while a silent threat looms ever closer.
