About the author

Born in 1869, Alice Muriel Williamson was an English novelist who often published as A. M. Williamson. She is especially remembered for the many popular books she wrote with her husband, Charles Norris Williamson, with their joint works commonly credited to C. N. and A. M. Williamson.

Their fiction frequently blended romance, travel, and adventure, drawing on the excitement of early twentieth-century touring by car and the appeal of fashionable European settings. That mix made their novels especially distinctive in their day, giving readers both escapism and a strong sense of place.

Alice Muriel Williamson died in 1933. Today, she remains of interest to readers who enjoy vintage popular fiction, collaborative authorship, and stories that capture the spirit of travel in the years when modern tourism was still new.
