Description

Stephen Knight, a sharply observant gentleman of the London elite, finds himself reluctantly drawn into a delicate social crisis. A scandalous newspaper interview has propelled the mysterious Margot into his orbit, and despite his desire to stay aloof, she implores him for help. As Knight juggles his reputation, a speculative investment that threatens his livelihood, and a looming family dispute, the pressure builds.

In the opulent Palm Court of the Carlton, whispers swirl about the tragic Northmorland case and the fate of a grieving lady in black crape. Guests speculate on Knight’s motives while he moves through the crowd, torn between a sense of humor that masks his anxiety and a growing curiosity about Margot’s true intentions. The encounter sets the stage for a tangled web of duty, love, and hidden agendas that will test his convictions.
