Description

In a sleepy Maine fishing village, a courier bursts onto the square, breathless, delivering news of the recent clash at Lexington. The townsfolk, half‑finished breakfast in hand, listen as the messenger recounts how General Gage’s troops marched from Boston to seize colonial stores, only to be met by vigilant minutemen and the famous midnight ride of Paul Revere. The urgency in their faces tells the listener that the colonies are on the brink of open conflict.

When the British column arrives at Lexington’s green, a small company of militia stands firm, muskets at the ready. The Redcoats demand surrender, but the colonists refuse, and a single shot erupts, followed by a volley that leaves seven men dead—the first martyrs of the Revolution. The sudden burst of violence sends the militia scattering, while the soldiers press on, convinced they have scattered the rebellion. The scene captures the raw tension and bravery that ignited a nation’s struggle for independence.
