Description

In the waning days of medieval France, a bright‑spirited heiress finds herself caught in the rigid web of feudal law. Though the chivalric ideals of knights echo through the countryside, they offer little protection to the women whose futures are bartered like property. Rose D’Albret inherits a sprawling estate, yet her marriage must be sanctioned by a lord who sees her wealth as a prize rather than a partnership. The novel opens with her family’s sudden loss, leaving her in the hands of a stern guardian whose ambitions clash with her own yearning for freedom.

Within the stone walls of her ancestral home, Rose encounters a handful of suitors—some charming, others calculating—each representing a different path for her life. As she navigates courtly expectations and the whispered intrigues of courtiers, her sharp mind and tender heart drive her to seek a voice amid the silence imposed upon her gender. The story follows her delicate dance between duty and desire, painting a vivid picture of love, power, and the quiet rebellion of a young woman poised on the brink of change.
