Description

A seasoned investigator, Asbjörn Krag is called in after a daring robbery aboard a passenger liner bound for Kristiansand. Charged with retrieving priceless loot and tracking the elusive German impostor behind the heist, he dives straight into a web of stolen jewels, nervous crew members, and a city still reeling from the theft. The case pushes him to the edge of exhaustion, leaving his nerves frayed enough that a doctor orders him onto a long sea‑voyage for recovery.

The journey takes Krag aboard a British cargo ship sailing from the Baltic to the Mediterranean, captained by an old Norwegian schoolmate. While the weather is fine and the sea calm, Krag’s thoughts are anything but; he’s haunted by a missing report about his friend’s fate and by whispers of a shadowy syndicate pulling the strings across continents. The ship’s delayed departure only deepens the mystery, hinting at a larger conspiracy waiting in the bustling ports of America.

Set against the backdrop of early‑20th‑century Europe and the Atlantic, the story blends meticulous police work with the grit of prison hulks, secret meetings, and the uneasy feeling that a single unsolved crime can ignite far‑reaching repercussions. Listeners will feel the tension of night‑time raids, the clang of iron doors, and the quiet determination of a man who refuses to let a single clue slip away.
