Description

A seasoned detective, Asbjörn Krag, steps off a night train in the sleepy border town of Fredrikshald, weary from a delicate extortion case that took him through the smoky stages of Gothenburg. Though the journey has left him with little more than a small suitcase, a revolver, and a handful of odd papers, his keen eye already catches the subtle signs of trouble hidden in ordinary details. The Grand Hotel, perched opposite the station, offers a brief respite, but the quiet of his room is quickly shattered by a strange, almost hypnotic melody drifting through the corridors.

The sound has no recognizable instrument and seems to echo from the ballroom below, where a “music photographer” has been mentioned in whispered conversation. When Krag confronts the hotel’s porter about the source, the reply only deepens the mystery, suggesting an unusual performance that could be linked to the vanished letters from his recent case. As the detective’s curiosity sharpens, listeners are invited to follow his methodical steps into a puzzle where music, intrigue, and the shadows of the 1920s intertwine.
