Description

In the opening council chamber of the English court, King Henry IV wrestles with a kingdom bruised by rebellion. Reports from Wales and the northern border speak of brutal clashes—Glendower’s forces slaughtering Mortimer’s men and Hotspur’s daring victory over the Scots at Holmedon. The king feels the weight of his crown, fearing that the bloodshed threatens both his realm and his own legitimacy. He also worries that his own son, Prince Harry, lacks the gravitas needed to command respect.

Amid the political turmoil, the young prince drifts through London’s taverns, forging an unlikely friendship with the boisterous Falstaff. Their carefree banter hides a deeper tension between youthful excess and the expectations of royalty. As the kingdom teeters between war and peace, Hal’s reluctance to embrace his future role sets the stage for a clash of personalities—between the disciplined, honor‑driven Hotspur and the wayward heir who must decide where his loyalties truly lie.

William Shakespeare

A playwright, poet, and actor from Stratford-upon-Avon, he created characters and lines that have stayed alive for more than four centuries. His stories of love, ambition, jealousy, power, and forgiveness still feel startlingly human.
