A violent storm erupts over the open sea, its thunderclaps and flashing lightning the work of a hidden hand. A ship carrying a king, his brother, and a young prince is tossed into chaos, its crew scrambling as the vessel threatens to sink. Meanwhile, on a remote island, a learned exile watches the tempest from his modest cell, his daughter Miranda pleading for mercy. The island, alive with unseen spirits, becomes the stage for a confrontation between magic and the natural world.
Prospero, once a duke betrayed by his own brother, has mastered the arcane arts and commands a mischievous airy spirit named Ariel to do his bidding. He also contends with Caliban, a native whose resentment simmers beneath the surface. As the shipwrecked nobles stumble onto the shore, they encounter the strange inhabitants and the mysterious powers that govern the island. Their arrival sets in motion a series of encounters that will test loyalty, revenge, and the possibility of redemption.

A playwright, poet, and actor from Stratford-upon-Avon, he became the defining voice of English drama. His plays and poems have traveled across centuries because they still feel alive with ambition, love, jealousy, wit, and grief.
