Description

In the black of a moonless night over the rolling hills of Hampshire, a lone rider hums old ballads while his horse clops along a shadowed road. The quiet darkness is broken only by the splash of a stream and the sudden appearance of a second traveler, a stranger whose uneasy questions hint at a restless purpose. Their brief exchange—talk of inns, the distant town of Winchester, and the uneasy promise of safety—opens a window onto a world where honor and survival walk hand in hand.

The novel follows these two men as they forge an uneasy partnership, each carrying his own secrets and ambitions. As they navigate the perilous countryside, the story weaves together the gritty realities of medieval travel with the lingering hope of love and loyalty that may blossom amid looming conflict. Listeners will find a richly textured portrait of chivalry, camaraderie, and the quiet courage that sustains ordinary people on the brink of historic events.
