Description

In the bustling town of Windsor, the retired knight Sir John Falstaff, ever the lover of good food and good company, decides that his golden years are the perfect time to chase romance. He sets his sights on two of the town’s most respected women—Mrs. Ford and Mrs. Page—believing their marital bliss will make them easy prey. His swagger and false bravado quickly draw the attention of a colourful cast of servants, judges and meddling relatives.

Unbeknownst to Falstaff, the two wives are far from naïve; they enlist the help of their clever daughters and loyal household staff to turn his schemes upside down. Through a series of witty letters, disguises and staged encounters, they stage a playful battle of wits that keeps the audience laughing at every turn. The result is a lively comedy of misunderstandings that celebrates cleverness, loyalty and the joy of out‑smarting a boastful rogue.

About the author

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare

1564–1616

A playwright, poet, and actor from Stratford-upon-Avon, he created characters and lines that have stayed alive for more than four centuries. His stories of love, ambition, jealousy, power, and forgiveness still feel startlingly human.
