BLIND.
At the first light of day a thin veil of mist clings to Vesuvius, casting a ghostly glow over the bustling Sorrento creek. Fishermen and their wives move in a practiced rhythm, hauling nets, rigging boats, while even the oldest locals join the chore of preparing for the day’s work. Amid the clamor, the town’s modest priest readies a small vessel to sail for Capri, a brief pilgrimage that promises both duty and a glimpse of brighter weather.
A striking young woman named Laurella—known locally as l’Arrabiata—cuts a striking figure as she descends the steep path, handkerchief fluttering and a modest bundle at her side. She confronts the boatmen with a sharp wit and a modest request for a half‑carlin, hinting at a keen independence that sets her apart from the sleepy routine. The air crackles with a mixture of curiosity and unease, suggesting that her journey to Capri may stir more than just the tide.
