Description

In the cold, watchful towers of Elsinore, the kingdom of Denmark is still reeling from the sudden death of its king. His son, Prince Hamlet, returns home to a court that feels both uneasy and hostile, especially under the new rule of his uncle, now king. When the night‑shift guards report a strange, glowing apparition on the battlements, Hamlet is drawn into a mystery that threatens to upend everything he thought he knew.

The ghost, claiming to be the dead monarch, whispers of betrayal and unfinished business, igniting Hamlet's desperate need for truth. Caught between loyalty to his father and the political machinations of the new court, he must decide how to act while wrestling with grief, doubt, and a desire for justice. All the while, his close friend Horatio offers steady counsel, and the looming presence of the ambitious young Fortinbras hints at a larger conflict beyond Denmark's walls.

About the author

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare

1564–1616

A playwright, poet, and actor from Stratford-upon-Avon, he created characters and lines that have stayed alive for more than four centuries. His stories of love, ambition, jealousy, power, and forgiveness still feel startlingly human.
