The Darlington brothers—James, the steady elder, and his twins Jo and Tom—have already turned wagon trails and rocky passes into a series of clever, good‑humored exploits. Joined by Juarez, a rescued youth raised among Indians, they trade the endless plains for the bustling dock of San Francisco, ready for a new frontier on water.
In the opening night Juarez, exhausted from a long rail ride, leans against a dockside wall despite Jo’s warning about the fearsome Captain Bill Broome. A silent figure steps from the shadows, and suddenly Juarez is seized, his arms pinned to the warehouse. The abrupt capture thrusts the group onto a mysterious ship and hints at a perilous voyage across storm‑tossed seas.
Listeners will feel the tense dock, the sudden danger, and the promise of an adventure that carries the boys far beyond the continental horizon.

Best known for the early-1900s Frontier Boys adventures, this elusive writer produced brisk, action-filled stories for young readers. Very little biographical information appears to survive, which gives the books an extra air of mystery.
