A lone figure known only by a nickname drifts through the tangled backroads of northern Argentina, swapping odd jobs—bolichero, market hawker, schoolmaster—while the landscape of Tucumán, Salta and Jujuy slips past him like a restless dream. Small, wiry and perpetually wary, he finally decides that the only chance of a better life lies in Buenos Aires, a city that promises both ruin and redemption. With nothing but a battered, colorful poncho earned in a distant town, he gathers every cent he can to fund the perilous trek northward.
The journey quickly devolves into a comedy of errors: a cheap second‑class ticket, a frantic barter for the poncho, a missed train, and a night spent in a cramped boarding house that smells of salted meat. Yet every setback pushes him farther toward an unexpected invitation—a wedding that could alter the course of his wandering existence. Through humor and hard‑won humility, the narrative paints a vivid portrait of poverty, hope, and the stubborn will to keep moving forward.
