Two brothers born into privilege in 19th‑century Cebu, Marcos and Lucas share everything—food, clothes, and their parents’ affection—until the upheaval of the Spanish–American war shatters their world. Their studies at the Colegio de San Carlos are interrupted by violent conflict, their family home burns, and their father is taken away, leaving the boys to navigate loss, displacement, and the harsh realities of a country in turmoil.
Marcos, the elder, is quickly drawn into the resistance, recruited by a seasoned commander to lead a squad on a dangerous mission to Leyte. There he encounters a spirited young woman whose charm both distracts and inspires him, hinting at a future that could pull him away from his home forever. Meanwhile, Lucas struggles to survive in a devastated landscape, confronting poverty and the raw violence of guerrilla warfare. Their diverging paths raise questions about loyalty, love, and what it means to rebuild a life after everything has been taken away.
