Description

In the wake of the French surrender, the western frontier trembles under a relentless indigenous coalition led by the formidable Pontiac. He engineers a duplicitous game of lacrosse, using concealed weapons to lure the garrisons of Detroit and Michilimackinac into a deadly ambush—one succeeds, the other falls in a flood of blood. The opening captures the clash of strategy and survival, illustrating how a single moment of trust can decide the fate of entire forts.

Against this backdrop, a young commissary officer—your narrator’s own grandfather—volunteers a perilous supply run from Albany to the besieged Detroit. Braving hostile woods, storm‑laden lakes, and constant threat of attack, he maneuvers a convoy of bateaux laden with ammunition and provisions. His daring night‑time delivery steadies the embattled garrison, setting the stage for further conflict and personal reckonings in a land still raw with war.
