Description

When the powerful financier Sigsbee Manderson is shot dead under mysterious circumstances, the case lands on the desk of the meticulous yet world‑weary detective Philip Trent. Already famed for solving the baffling "Speckled Band" affair, Trent confronts a tangle of corporate intrigue, jealous rivals, and a haunting woman in black whose presence seems to linger at every turn. As he interviews nervous heirs, cold‑blooded employees, and a host of eccentric witnesses, the sleuth’s sharp eye begins to separate genuine clues from the layers of deception that cloak the crime scene.

Trent’s methodical approach reveals more than a simple murder; it uncovers a web of hidden motives that ripple through the upper echelons of society. The investigation forces him to question his own assumptions, while the enigmatic stranger continues to appear at critical moments, adding a chilling personal note to the puzzle. Listeners will be drawn into the atmospheric streets of London and the opulent boardrooms where the truth waits, half‑revealed, just beyond the next interview.
