A fierce autumn storm has driven a grand ship onto a sandbank, leaving it broken and half‑buried in the surf. The local fishermen, spurred by a countess’s promise of a reward for every rescued life, brave the relentless waves to reach the wreck. Amid the wreckage they discover a lone, trembling figure—a young woman barely clinging to life, her fate hanging on the thin line between death and rescue.
The survivors ferry her to the nearby manor, a once‑splendid castle now serving as a makeshift sanctuary for a ailing aristocrat. Inside, the fading grandeur of the estate contrasts sharply with the raw, salty struggle that brought the woman ashore. As the castle’s doctor begins to tend her wounds, the listeners are drawn into a world where sea‑borne peril meets the quiet desperation of a house trying to hold on to its dwindling glory.
