RECESSIONAL
In a future society that calls itself the Manly Age, everyday life is a strange mix of high‑tech armor and rural quirks. Stonecypher, a gentle animal lover, runs a paddock where a glossy bull with a purple‑tinged mane sways like a circus performer, while L. Dan, a swaggering hobbyist, arrives intent on buying the creature for a dogfight. Their encounter quickly spirals into a comic showdown, complete with plastic cuirass, a red handkerchief, and a demand for a legally mandated duel.
The tension escalates when Catriona, a sturdy woman with red‑blonde hair, rides up in a mule‑drawn cart and shatters the fragile peace. Stonecypher insists on following the government’s strict duel code, even as Dan threatens violence over a promise that was never made. Listeners are drawn into a fast‑paced, satirical battle of egos and absurd regulations, setting the stage for a larger conflict that promises to test loyalties and redefine what it means to be “manly” in this off‑beat world.

A mid-century science fiction writer and illustrator, he published a small body of imaginative short fiction and also contributed artwork to the genre magazines and fanzines of his era. His work sits in that rich pulp tradition where storytelling and visual world-building often went hand in hand.
