Description

A group of well‑to‑do travelers finds themselves nursing stale conversation in a cramped cabin, the smoke of cigars and clink of wine doing little to lift their spirits. When the charismatic Brisbane, a broad‑shouldered man with a piercing voice, asks for a light, the chatter abruptly halts. He then drops a chilling statement: he has actually seen a ghost.

The remark sets a tense, uneasy tone that transforms the ordinary setting into something far more unsettling. As the night deepens, the passengers begin to question the reality of what surrounds them, each anecdote and boast taking on a new, ominous edge. The story balances genteel Victorian dialogue with an ever‑creeping sense of the supernatural, making listeners wonder whether the upper berth holds a lingering presence that will not be ignored.
