In the sun‑drenched pastures of Pleasant Valley, a tiny chipmunk named Sandy darts along stone walls with cheek‑pouches brimming with nuts. His speed and constant activity spark a lively debate among his friends—Jimmy Rabbit, Fatty Coon, Billy Woodchuck, and others—who each offer a different theory for the origin of his sandy‑hued nickname. While they argue, the wise old crow perched nearby watches, ready to settle the chatter with his own claim.
Sandy’s day is a whirlwind of chores: gathering food, repairing a broken egg, and helping his mother build a snug burrow. Along the way he meets the bustling townsfolk of the woods—a kindly Mrs. Chipmunk, the busy Uncle Sammy at the store, and a curious crow who hands him a mysterious letter. These encounters set the stage for a series of small but memorable trials that test his resourcefulness and reveal the warmth of his community.
