Description

When two of the Spindrift Scientific Foundation’s key researchers vanish during an expedition in the Sulu Sea, teenage prodigy Rick Brant and his loyal friend Scotty feel the pressure to act. Their father, Dr. Hartson Brant, a seasoned scientist, summons a Filipino colonel and a quirky physicist to discuss the mystery, but the boys can’t wait for diplomatic deliberations. Determined to rescue their colleagues, they slip into a world of island villages, secret tribal loyalties, and an emerging threat of pirates who patrol the waters.

As they navigate the tangled channels of the Philippines, Rick’s quick thinking with a kris and Scotty’s knack for improvisation draw them into a daring chase across seas and jungles. Along the way they encounter a Hindu merchant, a hidden headman, and the cryptic “Sampaguita” trail that hints at an organized plot. The first act ends with the boys poised to confront the dancing pirates, setting the stage for a science‑driven adventure that blends danger, friendship, and clever problem‑solving.
