Description

On a windswept island off Sweden’s western coast, an aging farmer and his strikingly youthful wife make their uneasy home amid crumbling stone walls and stubborn patches of cultivated earth. Joel, a man of habit and hard work, has spent years hauling soil and manure onto the barren rock, convinced that his relentless toil will one day yield a prosperous harvest. His wife, Mor, watches the sea with longing, dreaming of the bustling ports and steady income that a life on the water could bring, while silently questioning the wisdom of their isolated existence.

Their evenings unfold on a flat rock by the shore, where Joel’s booming stories about distant voyages clash with Mor’s quiet, restless thoughts. As the couple argues over the value of his farming versus her yearning for the tides, the rhythm of the waves hints at possibilities beyond the fields they have carved. Listeners are drawn into this intimate portrait of ambition, regret, and the tug‑of‑war between land and sea, eager to see whether the island’s harsh landscape will finally force a change in their fate.
