The Miracles of Antichrist
A strange, all‑enveloping darkness falls over the world, freezing water, wind, and even the tiniest leaves. In this uncanny night nothing moves—rivers stand still, beasts cease their hunt, and the sky offers no star to guide the way. The hush feels reverent, as if the earth itself is holding its breath for something momentous.
Against this backdrop, the aging Emperor Augustus ventures from his palace toward the Capitol, bearing a humble offering of doves for a nocturnal sacrifice meant to gauge the gods’ favor for a new temple. Accompanied only by his closest retainers and a procession of torches, he confronts a looming, ancient presence on the cliff’s edge—an enigmatic figure that many mistake for a twisted olive tree or a wandering statue before recognizing it as the legendary sibyl.
The encounter hints at prophecies etched on leaves and whispered by the wind, setting the stage for a clash between imperial ambition and a timeless, mysterious foresight that could reshape the empire’s destiny.
