Description

The narrative opens with a historian’s confession, explaining how faded letters from a distant relative of the famed Francis Marion were uncovered and stitched together. Those pages, handwritten by Rufus Randolph, give a raw, front‑line view of the Revolutionary turmoil that swept Charleston after its capture. As the British impose harsh edicts, a pair of young Charlestonians feel the pull of liberty and decide to leave their homes, drawn into the shadowy guerrilla warfare of the “Swamp Fox.”

They join Marion’s ragged band of “Minute Boys,” a handful of volunteers who strike swiftly and disappear into the low, tangled swamps of South Carolina. Through the boys’ eyes we hear the crack of muskets, the whispered orders to “dismount and throw down your weapons,” and the tension of daring raids against a superior enemy. Listeners will taste the fierce loyalty, the sudden peril of night ambushes, and the youthful resolve that fuels a desperate fight for independence—without spoiling the larger campaign that follows.
