Description

Ruth Courthope Seer has finally claimed the land she’s dreamed of all her life. In the quiet aftermath of 1919, she inherits Thorpe Farm—a sprawling estate of fields, streams and a weather‑worn house—just as the world begins to heal from war. With only two loyal dogs for company, she pours her hard‑won savings into turning the neglected property into a thriving home. The peace she feels is suddenly tinged with curiosity as she notices a lone hole in an otherwise perfect hedge.

When a dust‑caked Gordon Setter appears, limping but determined, Ruth senses a lingering presence from the farm’s former owner. The dog’s arrival sparks a gentle investigation, prompting her to question the unseen hands that once tended the soil. As she follows the scent through buttercup‑laden fields, listeners are drawn into a tender mystery that blends the ordinary rhythms of rural life with the whisper of something beyond. The story unfolds with quiet humor, a keen eye for nature, and an emerging bond between a woman, her dogs, and the hidden past of her new home.
