The Deserted Yacht Madge Sterling Series, #2

Madge Sterling steps off a rattling train in the sleepy seaside town of Cheltham Bay, suitcase in hand and a letter promising a two‑week cruise on the yacht Flora. The bustling platform soon empties, leaving her to wonder why her friend Enid never appears, despite the clear invitation. As the tide pulls the bright‑flagged vessel into view, Madge’s excitement mixes with an uneasy feeling that something isn’t quite right.

The harbor hums with the low murmur of dockworkers and the occasional splash of oars, while the town’s locals offer cryptic clues about a famous yachtsman named Burnett. With no one to greet her, Madge must decide whether to board alone or turn back, all while the mystery of the missing party deepens. The atmosphere is steeped in 1930s charm, and every ripple on the water hints at secrets waiting just beyond the deck.

Soon she finds herself drawn toward the anchored yacht, confronting the first puzzle of the adventure: why has Enid vanished, and what awaits her on the Flora? The opening sets a gentle, inquisitive tone, promising a clever blend of lighthearted travel and emerging intrigue for listeners eager to follow Madge’s seaside sleuthing.
