Description

In the icy reaches of the far north, a young Eskimo girl named Tuktu and her older brother Aklak grow up among the reindeer herds that sustain their family. Their father, Kutok, teaches them the rhythms of the land—herding, hunting, and the ancient customs that bind their people to the animals. When the herd moves to the mysterious Valley of the Good Spirit each summer, the children are sent to watch from a modest hut, feeling the excitement of a promise fulfilled and the tingling anticipation of a place spoken of in hushed legend.

Evenings in Kutok’s home are filled with stories, the most beloved of which is the tale of the chosen reindeer that dwells in that enchanted valley. As the aurora dances overhead, Tuktu dreams of the Good Spirit’s hidden realm, wondering what wonders await those who venture close. The narrative weaves together the quiet bravery of daily life with the magical promise of a Christmas miracle waiting to unfold.
