Description

A troop of Boy Scouts sets out for a summer camp in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where the tall timber and alpine air test their mettle. Led by the earnest scoutmaster Bob White, the Silver Fox Patrol—Thad, Allan, Bumpus, Giraffe, Step Hen, Davy, Smithy and others—mixes practical skills with good‑natured ribbing, making every roll call feel like a comedy sketch. Early mishaps, such as a rogue pack mule’s playful attack on the rotund Bumpus, reveal the group's easy camaraderie and set the tone for lighthearted adventure.

When word spreads that one of the newest scouts, a tenderfoot named Mike, has vanished into the dense forest, the boys launch a spirited search that blends curiosity with the rustic skills they’ve been learning. Together they navigate tangled underbrush, track animal footprints, and rely on each member’s quirky strengths—Giraffe’s keen eyesight, Davy’s acrobatic agility, and Smithy’s fastidious attention to detail—to piece together clues. The search becomes a lesson in teamwork and wilderness respect, offering listeners a charming glimpse of early 20th‑century scouting life amid the grandeur of the big timber.
