The Boy Scouts Afoot in France; or, With the Red Cross Corps at the Marne

Four friends from the Silver Fox Patrol—Thad, Allan, “Bumpus,” and “Giraffe”—find themselves far from home, navigating the river Schelde toward Antwerp. Their journey began as a simple mission to reunite Bumpus with his ailing mother in a renowned sanitarium, but the sudden eruption of war on the continent turns their trip into an unexpected adventure. Dressed in faded khaki and campaign hats, the boys rely on their scouting skills, quick wit, and deep camaraderie to cope with the chaos that surrounds them.

Arriving in a city under strain, they quickly discover that the front lines are moving fast, and the need for help is urgent. Drawn into the Red Cross Corps at the Marne, the scouts put their training to work—delivering supplies, tending to the wounded, and learning the harsh realities of wartime service.
