Description

A ragged troop of eight boys, the Silver Fox Patrol, sets out on a dusty summer trek through the hills surrounding Scranton. Led by the earnest Thad Brewster, who carries the weight of a late father and a keen eye for detail, the scouts trade jokes, badge‑shine, and a lively bugle call as they search for a shady spring. Their camaraderie is tested early when the clumsy but music‑loving Bumpus Hawtree’s curiosity leads the group into a tangled thicket, hinting at the adventures awaiting them.

The real test comes when a startled bear bursts onto the trail, sending the patrol scrambling for safety and forcing an impromptu camp‑fire that becomes more than a warm glow. Around the crackling flames, the boys must rely on ingenuity, teamwork, and the lessons of their scout handbook to calm their nerves and plan the next day’s move. Listeners will feel the tension of the night, the scent of pine, and the growing bond among the scouts as they confront nature’s surprises together.
