Description

A heavy summer night in 526 AD cloaks the crumbling outskirts of Rome in a thick, oily fog. The ruins of an ancient temple loom over the shoreline, its marble columns cracking under the weight of centuries, while distant lightning sketches fleeting silhouettes of a city on the brink. In the highest step of the ruined gateway, an aged figure watches the gloom, his silver‑white beard spilling over his chest, before rising to greet three approaching men with a solemn warning: “They are coming.”

The youngest carries a brilliantly fashioned torch, his bright eyes and golden hair framing a face that seems almost divine in its perfection. Beside him strides a hulking warrior, beard matted with brown curls, whose bear‑like strength radiates from a coarse leather coat and a heavy oak club. The third, a medium‑built soldier in a steel helmet, moves with calm intelligence, his sharp gaze hinting at a strategic mind. Together they step into the dim light, each bearing a different blend of hope and danger, as the city’s fate begins to stir beneath their feet.
