Description

Born in a quiet French castle, a curious boy named Peter dreams of far‑away cities where marble walls gleam and holy relics rest. Stories of Byzantium’s golden palaces and the sacred cross returned to Jerusalem stir his imagination, while the distant clang of his father’s campaigns serves as a reminder of a world at war. As pilgrim caravans flow through his village, Peter learns that journeys to the Holy City promise forgiveness for sins, but also expose travelers to danger and intrigue.

In Jerusalem, the streets pulse with tension as rival faiths clash over a desecrated shrine, and a furious crowd of Saracens threatens the Christian faithful. The Christians huddle in humble robes, marked by leather thongs that signify their subjugation, while fear and anger swirl around them. Amid the turmoil, a lone voice rises from within their ranks, offering a glimpse of courage that may change the course of their struggle. The opening scenes set the stage for a vivid portrait of medieval devotion, ambition, and the human cost of holy war.
