A skilled young hunter returns from a fruitful chase, his canoe brimming with fresh game and his heart humming a quiet thanks to the Great One. The early autumn river glistens under a canopy of pine, and the world seems at peace as he paddles home, the sounds of woodpeckers and hawks his only companions. Yet an unexpected loon call drifts across the water, a sound that feels out of place and raises a sudden, uneasy suspicion that he may have strayed into enemy territory.
As twilight deepens, the hunter’s confidence gives way to caution; he watches the river’s edge for hidden threats, aware that any concealed canoe could spell danger. When two silhouettes finally emerge, cutting through the dark water, the tension sharpens, hinting that his journey home may become a test of wits and survival.
