Description

Rick Brant is back on his family’s seaside home on Spindrift Island, swapping high‑altitude flights for porch‑side banter with his best friend Scotty and the inquisitive young reporter Jerry. The Brants—a scientist father, a supportive mother, and their adventurous son—have just returned from a Pacific cruise where they cracked the mystery of a “Phantom Shark.” Now Rick is hinting at a new invention that could “startle the civilized world,” and his restless curiosity is already pulling him toward the next puzzle.

When a vague phone call and a whispered warning stir the quiet night, a shadowy reef near the island becomes the focus of their latest investigation. Rick, Scotty, and Jerry must combine quick thinking, daring driving, and a dash of scientific know‑how to uncover who’s lurking in the waters and why. Their first clues point to a hidden smuggling operation, setting the stage for a high‑stakes chase that blends clever problem‑solving with classic teen adventure.
