Description

In this wartime tale, a freshly recruited member of the Women’s Army Corps finds herself stationed at Fort Des Moines, sharing cramped cots with a hundred other eager girls. As the night settles, Norma Kent’s restless mind is jolted by strange flashes of light and whispered foreign words from the girl in the neighboring cot, sparking a nervous curiosity that feels both thrilling and unsettling.

The story follows Norma’s internal debate between duty and doubt, recalling a childhood legend of secret signals and sudden raids. While she dreams of driving trucks, operating radios, and guarding coastlines, a quiet suspicion begins to grow—could one of her comrades be more than a fellow trainee? The narrative captures the blend of camaraderie, fear, and the looming unknown that defines the early days of women stepping onto the front lines of a global conflict.
