Description

John Hayden’s routine evening in the modest village of Morrisville is interrupted when a mysterious, sharply dressed stranger shows up at the local filling station, claiming to be a friend and asking about the small radio‑manufacturing plant where Hayden works. The conversation with Lee Cramer, the station’s pragmatic owner, leaves Hayden uneasy, and the stranger’s vague description lingers in his mind as he drives toward Jerry’s Tavern for his customary post‑work drink.

Inside the dim, wood‑panelled tavern, the familiar hum of conversation and the clink of glasses mask a growing sense of unease. As Hayden settles in with an Old‑Fashioned, the ordinary setting hints at hidden currents—old friendships, long‑held secrets, and the possibility that someone from his past has arrived with a purpose that could shake the stability of his married life. The stage is set for a quiet town to become the backdrop of a tension‑filled investigation where trust and loyalty will be tested.
