Description

A sharp‑witted nurse who doubles as an amateur sleuth is summoned by her longtime confidant, Mr. Patton, to investigate a disturbing situation at a respectable city household. A young nurse from St. Luke’s has spent four days locked in a room, surviving on crackers and milk, and now claims something is terribly wrong. The protagonist, accustomed to navigating both medical wards and crime scenes, accepts the assignment, preparing to infiltrate the household under the guise of a fresh nurse.

The mysterious residence on Beauregard Square holds a family that seems content yet oddly secretive, and the absence of a doctor only deepens the intrigue. As she steps into the locked doors, she must rely on her clinical instincts and investigative flair to uncover why the nurse’s mind has unraveled and what hidden forces may be at work. The story promises a tense blend of psychological suspense and clever deduction, all set against the backdrop of early‑20th‑century urban life.
