Description

In a quiet Midwestern town, Elizabeth Wheeler finds solace each Sunday in the choir loft, where the hum of voices and the solemnity of the service offer a brief escape from everyday expectations. Dressed in the modest black cassock and white surplice, she balances a yearning for something deeper with the simple comforts of family life, dreaming of a love that might finally give her heart a direction.

After rehearsals, Elizabeth walks home with her friend Clare Rossiter, a striking blonde whose flirtatious confidence hides a restless obsession. Clare confides that she is infatuated with the aloof Dr. Dick Livingstone, a man who barely notices her, and the confession opens a window onto the tangled emotions swirling beneath the town’s calm surface. As the two women navigate their own desires and the unspoken tensions of their community, the choir’s harmonious chords mask a growing sense of unease.
