Description

A Dutch ship’s doctor finds himself the only foreigner aboard the English merchant vessel Little Duc as it battles a ferocious Caribbean storm. The gale drives the ship far off course, leaving its damaged hull skimming the shallow reefs near a secluded Cuban island. With supplies dwindling, the crew is forced to seek help in the only nearby harbor they can locate.

There, a motley group of locals arrives in small boats, speaking a confusing mix of Spanish, French and English. They claim to be humble fishermen, yet their sharp eyes and eager hands suggest something far more aggressive. After a tense negotiation, the captain agrees to unload the cargo, hoping the strangers will guide them through the treacherous coral passage.

As the doctor steps onto the island, curiosity battles unease. The island’s atmosphere is thick with mystery, and the enigmatic leader—tall, dark‑bearded, and oddly commanding—draws him deeper into the uneasy alliance. The night looms, and the doctor must decide whether to stay ashore or return to the ship, aware that any misstep could plunge them into danger.
