Description

In the waning light of June 1791, a sleek Breton lugger named Jean‑Louis cuts through the Atlantic under a sky bruised purple by the approaching storm. Though she looks like a harmless coastal trader, the ship’s crisp rigging and proud mast hint at a hidden martial purpose, and her crew moves with a confidence that betrays more than simple commerce. At the helm stands a broad‑shouldered Breton, his fierce eyes scanning the clouds as the wind gathers into a threatening gale.

The seasoned sailors and a nervous young cabin‑boy scramble to secure the cargo, reef the sails, and ready the deck for what the captain predicts will be a “real tempest.” Their camaraderie and quiet superstitions surface as they brace the vessel, while the mysterious commander issues cryptic orders that suggest a deeper mission beyond mere trade. Listeners are drawn into the tension of a storm‑bound night, feeling the roar of waves and the pull of secrets that could alter the fate of this modest ship.
