Description

A bustling railway station becomes a theater of celebration as the newly elected deputy arrives in Miralto, his triumph heralded by whistles, marching bands, and a sea of cheering citizens. The crowd, a mix of fervent supporters and wary opponents, swells around the politician, each person feeling a personal stake in his ascent. Amid the clamor of political slogans and the electric hum of the station, the atmosphere crackles with the promise of change and the weight of public expectation.

Behind the pomp, his young wife, Adele, watches the spectacle with a heavy heart, aware that the same ambition that fuels the crowds also threatens the intimacy of their marriage. Their three‑year union faces its first real test as the demands of public life pull them in opposite directions, leaving Adele to question whether love can survive the relentless grind of politics. The opening pages set the stage for a story where personal devotion collides with the relentless pursuit of power.
