Description

A young woman named Leonore finds herself at the centre of a family’s turmoil when a promised fortune evaporates, leaving her without the settlement her father had counted on. The opening scenes pit stubborn pride against desperate hope, as General Boldero wrestles with the shame of being outwitted by a man he once trusted. Through sharp dialogue and a tense atmosphere, listeners are drawn into the tangled web of debts, hidden letters, and the looming threat of creditors.

As the story unfolds, Leonore must navigate a world where marriage, money, and reputation intersect in dangerous ways. Allies and adversaries alike surface, each with their own designs on her future, while a mysterious figure known only as Stubbs hints at deeper schemes. The early chapters set the stage for a suspenseful drama of social ambition, family loyalty, and the fight to reclaim a lost legacy.
