Description

In a quiet winter night at Ashton Grange, young Arthur finds himself alone in the warm library while the household hushes around him. The crackling fire casts a golden glow over the crimson carpet, and the stillness is broken only by the soft whispers of servants and the distant murmur of a doctor’s footsteps. As the evening deepens, Arthur’s curiosity about his sister Mildred’s sudden illness grows, pulling him between the comfort of the hearth and the ache of unanswered questions.

When his mother finally appears, her pale face and trembling hand bring grave news: Mildred has fallen seriously ill with a violent bout of croup. Arthur’s world tilts, his youthful optimism giving way to fear and sorrow as he confronts the possibility of losing his beloved baby sister. The story captures the tender bond between siblings and the fragile hope that lingers even in the darkest moments, inviting listeners to share in Arthur’s heartfelt journey of love, worry, and the search for comfort.
