REPARTIMENT
A modest noble house in a Catalan village comes alive with the chatter of servants, merchants, and a self‑styled marquis’ widow. In the opening scene Miquel and Antonia spar over the price of a pair of chickens, slipping from practical bookkeeping into whimsical debates about titles, silver forks and the proper way a “marqués” should eat. Their rapid‑fire dialogue sets a light‑hearted tone that pokes fun at pretensions and the everyday absurdities of rural aristocracy.
Soon other voices join the fray—Tuyas returns from the market, grumbling about boredom, while the house’s director, Nando, and a host of quirky characters weave in and out, each adding their own complaints about money, cigars and missing eggs. The comedy thrives on misunderstandings, petty negotiations, and the characters’ earnest attempts to maintain dignity amidst petty financial woes.
The first act offers a snapshot of a bustling household where even the simplest transactions become theatrical, promising listeners a cheerful, fast‑paced romp through witty wordplay and charming provincial life.
