Description

A breezy summer on the Maine coast becomes the backdrop for Jack Harvey’s reluctant decision to stay ashore instead of sailing to Europe with his parents. As the steamship departs Baltimore, his family’s good‑natured teasing and teasing‑filled good‑byes set the tone for a story filled with youthful rivalry, mischievous schemes, and the promise of adventure among a band of camp‑mates. Jack’s stubborn pride and his friends’ camaraderie hint at the lively escapades that await once they head for the rocky beaches and hidden coves of Benton.

Soon the boys stumble onto a secret world of oyster pirates, where daring raids and clever tricks replace ordinary camp games. Their rivalry with a rival troop adds a competitive spark, while the coastal setting offers rugged beauty and hidden dangers. Listeners will be drawn into the humor, the tight‑knit friendships, and the early‑twentieth‑century flavor of a seaside summer that teeters between innocence and bold, salty intrigue.
