Description

In this richly woven romance, a set of forgotten letters hidden in a Zurich convent opens a window onto the tangled lives of Count Donat’s daughters. The narrator, a humble nun with a talent for chronicling the past, guides listeners through a world of stately courts, jealous governors, and whispered conspiracies that shape the sisters’ fates long before the story’s present unfolds.

Amabel, a naïve yet determined young woman, is drawn into the dangerous currents surrounding her family when a journey to Engelberg turns into a cascade of unforeseen events. Alongside her sister‑in‑law and a cast of reluctant allies, she finds herself navigating hidden motives, secret sanctuaries, and the looming influence of powerful lords who vie for control over both hearts and thrones.

The opening acts lay a vivid foundation of devotion, intrigue, and the fragile hope of escape, inviting listeners to step into a historic drama where love and loyalty are tested against the stark backdrop of early‑19th‑century Alpine politics.
