Description

A delicate tapestry of journal entries, conversations and personal recollections, this work opens a quiet window onto the life of one of Europe’s most enigmatic royals. Through the eyes of a young poet‑observer and the reflections of a diligent Viennese student, the reader encounters a portrait that balances historical detail with an intimate, almost lyrical intimacy.

The prose weaves together the Empress’s love of poetry, her relentless pursuit of inner solitude, and the cascade of personal tragedies that surrounded her. Rather than a sweeping chronicle, the narrative lingers on moments of quiet contemplation—her fondness for small novels, the fleeting comforts of a fan, and the way she crafted a private world amidst public grandeur.

Rendered in a thoughtful translation and accompanied by a portrait sketch, the collection invites listeners to explore the delicate interplay between outward elegance and inner melancholy, offering a nuanced glimpse of a woman whose life was as much a work of art as it was a series of relentless hardships.
